Philadelphia Potter Lodge Blog is back in Business. We are connected to our new lodge web page and will be updating Lodge Activity for the rest of 2012
At our Stated Meeting in October we will be having our Annual Lodge Memorial Service. Come out and honor those brothers who have been gathered up to the Lord over the past year.
In November join us as we honor our veterans who served our country in the defense of Liberty and Freedom
In December join us for the election of Officers. It is also the night we hand out our Holiday Candy.
Our Annual Ladies Night and Holiday Party will be Sunday December 9th, 2012 at 3:30PM at Colleens at the Savoy on Route 73 in Pennsauken NJ.
Cost is $50.00 a couple for members
$75.00 a couple or $40.00 a single ticket for guests.

SUMMER 2009
As the saying goes, "time and tide wait for no man". We have finished half the year and are moving into our Summer Recess. In June we had a new Fellow Craft mason as well as a new entered apprentice Mason. Also our Lafayette Hills Prayer service on Sunday May 17th, had its biggest turn out in a few years, however there is always room for improvement. Several of our elderly and distinguished brothers have been ill and as usual we ask you to remember them in your daily devotion to the Great Architect of the Universe. June of 2009 saw the passing of Fred Ryan's wife. She was a lovely lady and helped us out each year to make our Lafayette Hills service an event to be remembered. We will all miss her. Our May out of state night brought brothers from eleven other Lodges. Again this years total of 102 brothers was one of our largest turn outs. Again thanks to all who helped this get off the ground. Finally a word of thanks to our degree teams especially, Stephen T. Kish PM Treasurer and Howard White PM, Lets not forget Jim McGurn WM and Ron Korack PM, as well as Brother Walter Leader and Gerry Farrell PM. September we will be raising a new Brother, we will also have our Past Master's Night, October stated we will be having our annual Lodge memorial service. November stated we take time to honor all of our veteran breathern, and December Stated we have our election of officers, candy to all who come as well as a special dinner. Also Lets not forget our Stewards, Bob Epps PM and Russell Maynard PM. time to Go, if you feel I left your name out then you have one recourse, come to our September meeting and give me a piece of your mind. The Holiday party may not come off this year due to the poor economy, unless Barack fixes it guickly. Our Past Masters Association Meeting will also be in September, Stephen T. Kish PM Chairman, Thomas J. O'brien III Asst. Chairman and The Secretary as the Secretary.

SPRING 2009
As we approach the first days of spring, lets recap what has been happening with Philadelphia Potter Lodge # 72. Winter has been rough with a few brothers ill. Most are doing fine so keep them in your prayers. In March's stated which was moved to the 2nd Thursday due to the Flower show, the lodge raised two new brothers. Congrats to them and to the members who performed the ritual. Super Job. May will be our out of state and brother hood night. Make an effort to attend this meeting. We will be hosting brothers from all three surrounding states. It is our chance to show them what a great Lodge we have. The Lafayette Hills Home Memorial Service may be cancelled due to sorry to say lack of interest. Attendance at the last two services was under 20 brothers and Ladies. Not many of the appointed officers even made the effort.
Speaking on attendance, it has been down at the stated meetings. Maybe it is the weather, but with Easter and Spring approaching lets make an effort to come out and show our Master and his officers that you appreciate what they do to keep this Lodge running.
2009 Dues is due at the April Stated. If you have not paid your dues ($50.00) for 2009 make the effort before you are suspended. Suspension from the Blue Lodge carries with it suspension from all other Masonic Bodies, including the Grand Lodge and Elizabethtown.
If you are presenting a petition for initiation and membership remember a check of $100.00 must be presented with the petition. Also bring the petition to the Lodge and do not mail it in. If you are presenting someone to Join, then it is expected that you will be there with him every step of the way. If you can not make that committment, than what is the point of recommending a friend to join the Lodge. By not being there with him what impression are you making on this candiate. Think about it.
In our Lodge there is a core group of Brothers, Past Masters and Officers who sad to say do everything that is needed to keep the Lodge running. It is sad to hear that some brothers do not even open the Lodge notice which is sent at a considerable expense both in money and time (20 hours) let alone read it or make an effort to attend the Lodge. Many things that are done monthly go unnoticed. Picking Lodge room, preparing the same, programs, degree teams and practice, picking dinner, Lodge notice of course, dues cards, charity letters, booking keeping, this is just a little reminder that meetings just don't happen. Christmas and Holiday parties and candies are not brought to us by Santa Claus. Sad to say many of our Brothes who do these thankless jobs are losing heart. If they decide to just sit by and do nothing, then a merger is not far away.

Philadelphia Potter Lodge # 72 Moves forward in 09
Congratulations are in order to those brothers who were appointed officers for 2009 and also to those brothers who were elected for the same year. Our first meeting was a great success with one Entered and one passed. February's meeting will see a brother passed. The March 2009 meeting which will be moved to the 2nd Thursday in March, i.e. March 12th 2009 will see two brothers raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. Keep those petitions coming in, remember a Lodge without petitions is a Lodge without a future.
Our annual Prayer service is scheduled for the Sunday following mothers day, ie. May 17th, at the Masonic Home in Lafayette Hills Pa. Service starts at 2:30PM. Lets make an effort to be there. Praying is optional.
If you have anything you would like to see here or a topic you want discussed drop the Secretary a note. Dues $50.00 is due April 1st 2009. That is the deadline.

As the Lodge moves forward into 2009 we are looking forward to having a father and son, Worshipful Master and Senior Warden, James McGurn, and Matthew McGurn. Thanks to Kevin Carroll PM for filling the position of Junior Warden.
Our ladies night, at Bennie the Bums at the Stadium Holiday Inn was a great success. There was plenty of food, though you would not know it, the way some of our brothers filled their plates. They must have thought it was there last meal. Steps are being considered to remedy this situation next year. Our attendance was off this year with 183 people, 32 of which were our brothers and ladies from the Square Club. Thanks again to those brothers.
Special thanks go to Stephen Kish PM and his Lady Victoria for the gifts and door prizes, Kevin Carroll PM for the center pieces. Thomas O'Brien III PM and his Lady Gwenny for helping in the table set ups. Thanks go out to Frederick Ryan PM for his support and special gifts provided. Thanks to my wife, Jo Ann for all her help in planning the menu, and the program.
Keep the Sunday after Mother's Day open for our 111th prayer service at the Masonic Home at Lafayette Hills, time 2:30PM refreshments to follow. After refreshment a dinner follows. More details to follow.
